Odesa to Get New Arena, Training Complex and Airport
OREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2013. Preparation for European festival of sport, the FIBA EuroBasket 2015, lasts in Ukraine. Odessa to get a new multifunctional arena for competitions in 100 sports, international exhibitions and concerts; modern airport and training complex, which after the tournament will be convey to junior sports school, vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul said while off-site working meeting in Odesa.
"The construction of these objects is very important for Odesa - one of the tourist and business centers of Ukraine. In particular, it will promote the development of sports and healthy lifestyle," vice Prime Minister said.
He noted that these objects, which to be constructed for the European championship, implement under the public-private partnership.
According to a city plan around the arena will be built shopping centers, hotels and a water park. Multifunctional arena is built at the expense of United Basketball Investments Ltd.
"The implementation of the project of multifunctional arena in Odesa goes according to the plan. With the support of the Government and local authorities today all approvals for land planning have been received, the city council approved the preliminary design of the arena, the preparatory work carried out on site. In October and November 2013, we are going to deploy a full-scale construction works," Oleg Bychkov, CEO of United Basketball Investments noted.
The Government also to build in Odesa training complex, and after Eurobasket 2015 it will be conveyed to junior sports school for the training of future Ukrainian champions.
A new terminal will be also built in the Odesa airport for the development of regional logistics capacity and improving the quality of services at the expense of United Basketball Investments Ltd.
