SOCAR Opens New Gas Pipelines in Dmanisi and Marneuli Regions
OREANDA-NEWS. SOCAR Georgia Gas has completed the construction of new gas pipelines in Gachagan settlement of Marneuli region and Gamarly settlement of Dmanisi region of Georgia.
The opening ceremony took place on August 29, which was attended by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, SOCAR Vice-Presidents Suleyman Gasimov and Badal Badalov, Georgian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Kakha Kaladze, as well as Director General of SOCAR Energy Georgia Mahir Mammadov. Before the opening ceremony, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev visited the educational centre in Dmanisi region named after Heydar Aliyev and presented Hyundai County bus to the centre.
The gas pipeline with 41.4 kilometres length, constructed in Gachagan village of Marneuli region, will enable to connect some 1,100 potential subscribers to the gas network. The gas pipeline with 12.6 kilometres length in Gamarli settlement of Dmanisi region allows supplying 280 subscribers with natural gas.
So far a gas network with 647 kilometres length was commissioned in Kvemo-Kartli region which is densely populated by Azerbaijanis and some 20,775 subscribers were provided with gas. It is planned to construct 180 kilometres long gas pipeline and connect more 4,928 subscribers to the gas network till late 2013.
SOCAR Georgia Gas has constructed 3,663 kilometres of gas pipelines in Georgia within 2009-2013 and provided 184,906 subscribers with natural gas.
It is to note that SOCAR Georgia Gas, a constituent part of SOCAR Energy Georgia, was established in 2007. Under the agreement signed with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the company is conducting construction of new gas pipelines and repairs of the old ones in various regions of Georgia.
