OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2013. The Third Meeting of Ukrainian-Japanese Committee on Сooperation at the Foreign Ministers’ Level was held. During the meeting the sides discussed the current state and prospects of development of the global partnership established between Ukraine and Japan during the official visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to Japan in January 2011, as well as possibilities of the visit of the Head of the Japanese Government to Ukraine.

In the context of development of cooperation within the "Fukushima-Chernobyl" framework, Leonid Kozhara confirmed the Ukrainian side’s readiness to provide necessary expertise and technical support to Japan in overcoming consequences of the accident at the nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1" in March 2011.

Ministers noted importance of strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation, including signing the Agreement on Promotion and Protection of Investments in the nearest future.

In order to promote scientific and technical cooperation the sides agreed to hold the Ukrainian-Japanese Committee on Scientific and Technical Cooperation meeting this year.

The ministers also exchanged views on important regional and international issues and cooperation between Ukraine and Japan in international organizations.
