OREANDA-NEWS.  August 28, 2013. On the day of Kharkiv Vice Prime Minister, Secretary of the Coordination Committee on gearing up and holding in Ukraine of finals of Eurobasket-2015 European Basketball Championship Olexandr Vilkul laid a time capsule into the basement of a new multifunctional arena. The arena will be put in exploitation in the end of 2014 – beginning of 2015.

Besides, the Government will build in Kharkiv a universal training complex which after holding Eurobasket-2015 is to be headed over to the children and youth sport school.

At the state funds in Kharkiv there will be held works in construction and repair of roads and beautification of the town. 

He noted that after holding in Kyiv European Basketball Championship (August of 2013), which is one of the stages of preparation to Eurobasket-2015, the FIBA Europe leaders had officially recognized this tournament the best in history of championships of the mentioned age category.

The main basketball organization of Europe announced that they had an intention to render to Ukraine a right the next year to host two more junior championships: U-18 and U-20.

In the ceremony of laying the capsule there were also participating President of Basketball Federation of Ukraine Olexandr Volkov, Director of IOC Eurobasket-2015 Markiyan Lubkivskyi, head of Kharkivskyi regional state administration Mykhaylo Dobkin, Kharkiv municipal head Hennadiy Kernes.
