Secretariat of Ports of Itaguai Visits Sudeste Superport
OREANDA-NEWS. Last Friday (16th), representatives of the Bureau of Maritime and Port Affairs of Itaguai (Seport) and about 20 students from three public schools in the city visited the Sudeste Superport, MMX's Port Terminal. The meeting marked the beginning of the Program of Port Visits, a partnership between Seport and MMX and other companies in the region. After watching a brief presentation, the group visited the project to find out about the company's activities, equipment assembly and the logistics system of the Sudeste Superport. After the visit to the MMX terminal, the students went on to the Sepetiba Tecon, CSN and Vale ports.
The Manager for Administration, Community Relations and Corporate Security matters for MMX, Ricardo Britto, reinforced the need to improve contacts between students and businesses in the region. “For us, it is very important that young people have contact with projects such as ours. Thus, they become motivated, and can get qualifications so that they can work here in the future” he said.
The Secretary for Maritime and Port Affairs at Itaguai, Elaine Pernes, highlighted the importance of the partnership between MMX and other companies in the port sector with the municipal government. “The goal of the program is to awaken in young people the need to study, to become qualified to work in these companies. With more knowledge, they can see the opportunities for growth and professional development that exist in the town” she points out.
The Visitors Program aims to allow public school students from Itaguai to get to know the town's port sector. According to Seport, the visits will take place every 15 days and will, initially, target ninth-grade students in the municipal schools of Itaguai. It is expected that all the municipal schools will have taken part by the end of 2013 in the Visitors Program.
