OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2013. Hong Kong & China Gas has placed an appraisal well onto production in Thailand after hitting hydrocarbons while drilling last month.

Australia-listed partner Carnarvon Petroleum said on Monday that the WBEXT-2C well in the L44/43 concession had produced about 1000 barrels of oil during the past four days.

The well was flowing about 330 barrels per day of oil with an associated 700 barrels of bpd of water, Carnarvon reported.

WBEXT-2C was completed as an 80-metre open hole section covering about 40 metres of the WBV2 target igneous, as well as a minor but deeper 10-metre intrusive igneous reservoir.

Two shallower igneous intervals encountered during drilling are expected to be considered for testing once the testing of this deeper section is completed.

Hong Kong & China Gas holds a 60% operated interest in the L44/43 concession through its subsidiary ECO Environmental Investments. Carnarvon holds the remaining 40% stake.
