OREANDA-NEWS.  August 23, 2013. National public Cyrillic top-level domain “.УKP” has finally created and will soon start working in Ukraine. Starting tomorrow, address registration of Ukrainian authorities in the domain will begin. This was started by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a session of the Government.

"Implementing the national domain, we significantly expand our segment in the Internet", - Mykola Azarov said, adding that this was possible due to the long joint work of our Government together with NGOs.

According to him the Cyrillic registration of addresses of the authorities will make them much more open to ordinary citizens and, above all, those who are just starting to get acquainted with the Internet. "For example, now, if you want to go to the Government Portal you should not to know the exact spelling of the address in Latin letters. You should just type in the address line in Ukrainian language "Kабмін.укр" or "КабінетМіністрів.укр", and you reliably get exactly where you want. In addition, addresses in native language will easier of in the Internet," Mykola Azarov said.

This is just the beginning, he said, but in the future it will be possible to use Cyrillic in writing e-mail addresses.

"The Internet is an integral part of our lives. Therefore, the more accessible and, so to speak, the more comfortable it will be for the citizens, the higher will be the quality of our life," the Prime Minister said.
