OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2013. "By November 14 Ukraine formally will file a declaration to the International Olympic Committee on intent to hold in the Carpathian region Winter Olympics 2022," vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul said during a meeting of the Organizing Committee with the participation of representatives of the central authorities and federations of winter sport.

"We do not just prepare the application to host the Winter Olympics in Ukraine in 2022. We pursue the Olympic dream that will unite the country. Organization of sports events of world-class gives a powerful impetus to improve an international image of Ukraine, the development of its tourism potential, including - internal. Holding the Winter Olympics in the Carpathian region will be a catalyst for economic development of Western regions. In particular, it will create new jobs and help our country return to Ukrainian citizens working abroad," vice Prime Minister said.
Ukraine plans to hold the Winter Olympics 2022 in Lviv, Tisovec (Lviv region) and Borzhava (Zakarpatya region).

"The world's best experts who prepared the winning proposal for London, Beijing, Vancouver, Sochi and Pyeongchang were attracted to develop and promote our application," Olexandr Vilkul said.
"Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2022 in Ukraine have the potential to be a very positive incentive for sports infrastructure and for many socio-economic phenomena. They are impulse of modernization of the region and leave an inheritance for future generations. Great importance is the careful planning of games and investments, as well as awareness of the specifics of the region," Gernot Leitner, an expert working group said.

International experts are studying Ukrainian regions where sports facilities will be located and analyzed pre-feasibility study, which was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2012.

Experts will provide their recommendations to the end of September. Pre-feasibility study consists of the general concept of games that includes the location of sports facilities: snow zone in Tisovec, ski arena in Volovtse, ice zone in Lviv, as well as providing transportation, hotels and service. Construction of facilities will be under public-private partnership.

Olexandr Vilkul noted that an important part of the preparation and promotion of the application is a support of the community.
