SOCAR and BP Hold Meeting on Nationalization and Migration Issues
OREANDA-NEWS. SOCAR and BP held next meeting at SOCAR’s Head office which covered the issues on training the local personnel for oil and gas industry of the country, substitution of international experts with local personnel, including the questions of obtaining the visas and permissions for foreign personnel engaged in projects.
Representatives of SOCAR and BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Ltd., as well as officials from the State Migration Service attended the meeting. According to Leyla Novruzova, Vice-President of BP Exploration Ltd., the work on comprehensive nationalization of ongoing projects has already been started. The developed plan comprises taking measures on nationalization of the international staff at the companies operating in accordance with the HRBS. The attendees emphasized the importance of strengthening works in this connection, as well as inviting experienced experts to the country. bp official expressed gratitude to SOCAR for assistance in entering into cooperation with State Migration Service.
According to Khalik Mammadov, SOCAR Vice-president of HR, IT and regulations, the procedure on nationalization of personnel at foreign companies operating in the oil sector will continue and have positive results. Following the results of the meeting, it was decided to enact at the level of SOCAR and BP the plan of measures for obtaining permissions for international personnel engaged in the projects in Azerbaijan by September 1.
