Unemployment Level in Ukraine Fell to 8% in 1H
OREANDA-NEWS. August 22, 2013. In the I quarter of 2013 the unemployment level in Ukraine, as determined by the methodology of International Labour Organization, has fell to 8% (against 8.4% over the analogous period of last year). Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Nataliya Korolevska announced.
“The number of unemployed has shortened by almost 90 thousand persons. It is a vivid proof that the chosen by us methods were correct,” she said.
“On the initiative of the Ministry of Social Policy and the State Employment Service the Government has already apporved 17 resolutions directed to realization of the Law (On employment). Besides, the Ministry of Social Policy has elaborated 12 orders that also ensure its implementation,” she explained.
Apart from that, accoridng to the Minister, there have been changed approaches in ensuring guaranteed employment of low competitive layers of the population (the youth, single parents, invalids, senior people). Over 7 months of 2013 there have been employed by the Employment Service 87.5 thousand of such persons (against 47.2 thousand of such persons employed over the respective period of last year).
“Overall over January-July of 2013 the services of the State Employment Service have been used by 1.3 million Ukrainians. By the end of year the service will render services to over 2 million job seekers,” Nataliya Korolevska summed up.
