Tata Steel Employee and Ex-CRPF Officer Receive Police Medal for Galla
OREANDA-NEWS. On the eve of Republic Day 2013, the name of Mr. Rajan Roshan Tirkey, Ex-Assistant Commandant has been announced for the coveted Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG).
This prestigious award is conferred to him for his brave and gallant services during his posting in Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA), an elite commando force. Earlier in 2011, he received Director General (CRPF) Disc and commendation award for conspicuous gallant work and exemplary performance shown on duty.
Mr. Rajan Roshan Tirkey is currently working in Tata Steel as Manager, Security. He left CRPF in 2012 due to his personal affairs, post which he joined Tata Steel in May 2012. He had joined CRPF on Dec 25, 2006 as directly appointed Gazetted Officer, subsequent to which he did his basic training in CRPF Academy, Gurgaon. Thereafter he was posted in 24 Battalion, CRPF, Jammu & Kashmir, which was looking after the security of Jawahar Tunnel. During this posting, he successfully discharged his duties which included security of vital installations, escort/convoy protection commander for Amaranth Yatries during agitations in 2008. In 2009, he voluntarily joined Special Task Force which is now called Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA).
