OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2013.Ukraine has entered top 5 countries, which produce honey. Thus, just for last year, beekeepers produced more than 70 000 tons of the product, while 13 tones of honey was exported abroad. This year the industry continues to develop fast.

This was started by the Director of the Department of Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Andriy Hetya.

"Ukraine has developed beekeeping and is among the five countries with the largest production of honey. And despite the high status of beekeeping the industry continues to develop. In particular, the production and export of these products are growing," Andriy Hetya said.

"Honey is an important export product that is in demand at foreign markets. The main importers are Germany, Russia, United States, Austria and Poland," said the director of the Department.

Recall that on August 19 the Day of the beekeeper is celebrated in Ukraine.
