Industrial Output Grew 6,4% in Moldova in 1Q
OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2013. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, as compared with June, 2012, it grew 8.7% in June, 2013. In January-June, 2013, the output increased 13.3% in the mining industry and grew 8.1% in the processing one.
In the reporting period it was produced 2.9% more foodstuffs and beverages than in the same period in 2012. For example, flour-grinding and starch production rocketed 32.2%, the dairy industry showed the 27.7% increase, distilled alcohol production grew 22.7% and wine production went 10.8% up. Production of cacao, chocolate and sugary confectionary grew 11%. Production of processed and canned fruit and vegetables increased 9.2%, meat and canned meat production grew 6.7% and bread output and bakery production went 6.7% up. Fish and fish products production increased 5.2%.
At the same time, production of vegetable oils and fats tumbled 90.7% down and production of mineral water and soft drinks declined 3.7%, NBS reports. Production of non-metal mineral products (glass, items of concrete, gypsum and cement, etc), ballooned 48.6%, chemical output soared 44.8%. Production of electric machines and equipment increased 44.3%, the metallurgic industry displayed the 30.1% growth. Furniture production grew 4.1%.
At the same time, in the reporting period it was produced 39.5% less medical devices and precious optical instruments, 20.8% less means of communications and radio and TV devices, and 19% less timber and woodwork. Production decreased 19.6% in the publishing industry and 14.7% in the tobacco industry; it was produced 10.3% less items of leather and footwear.
A decline in the fur production made up 7.6%; it was made 7.5% less finished metal items, 5.5% less machinery and equipment, 3.6% less paper and cardboard, 0.8% less textiles and 0.4% less robber and plastic.
The energy sector (generation and distribution of electricity and heat) reported the decline by 3.5% in this period. Heat and hot water supply decreased 5.5%, generation and distribution of power shrank 2.7%, NBS reports.
