OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2013. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the export of Moldovan foodstuff and livestock amounted to USD186.3 million in January-June 2013, down 1.3% as compared with the same period of 2012.

The import of the same group of goods grew 13% to USD 280 million. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first 6 months of 2013, Moldova exported meat and meat foods at a total of USD 7 million, 12.7% down as compared with the same period of 2012, whereas the import of these goods amounted to USD 18.9 million.

The export of dairy products and eggs made up USD 6.2 million (+39.7%), whereas their import was USD 21.4 million (+26.1%). The export of sugar, sugar products and honey made up USD 16.4 million (4.4% down), whereas their import doubled to USD 18.9 million.

The export of grains and their derivatives made up USD 25.7 million (+27.4%), whereas their import was USD 43.1 million (+3.1%). The export of coffee, tea, spices and their derivatives made up USD 2.1 million (+25.5%), whereas their import was USD 24.9 million (+3%).

The export foods and additives amounted to USD 1.4 million (+8.4%), the import being USD 36.1 million (+8.8%). Forage, non-milled crops excepted, was exported at a total of USD 2 million (83.4% down) and imported at an amount of USD 11.3 million (38.9% up). The fruit and vegetables was one of few items among foodstuffs and livestock, when export exceeded import in value terms. They were exported at a total of USD 121.8 million, 1.3% down, and imported at an amount of USD 77.9 million, 13.5% up.

The livestock export amounted to USD 3.7 million, 2% down, the import making USD 3 million, 19% down. Besides, in January-June, 2013, Moldova imported fish, lobsters and water invertebrate animas at an amount of USD 24.5 million (5% up). These items have never been exported from Moldova.
