Air Lituanica Launches Direct Flights to Berlin
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2013. Only a month past its successful start Air Lituanica introduces a yet another direct flight route for those enjoying travelling in comfort.
The air company will operate its first of the upcoming regular flights to the Berlin-based Tegel airport. During the first month of operations Air Lituanica carried out 98 flights offering a total of 7448 seats on direct flights to Brussels and Amsterdam.
‘The route to Berlin has a high potential with regard to both business and leisure travellers. The German capital is world-renowned for global business conferences and exhibitions as well as cultural events frequented by many Lithuanians,’ commented the CCO of Air Lituanica Simonas Bartkus.
According to S. Bartkus, the first month’s results were indeed highly positive, especially as concerns the sales of upper class tickets: ‘Now we are aware of the fact that prior to Air Lituanica there had been a clear market void of high quality air travelling services. Business travellers often seek flexibility so our Flexi type tickets are in quite high demand. They allow our clients to not only switch flight dates but also receive business class treatment on board.’
The company representatives have also observed an increased interest in connecting flights. The most popular options include travelling via Amsterdam to Paris, London, Marseille or even New York. It is forecasted that the largest number of connecting flights will be directed to the Spanish, British and French cities.
During the first month Air Lituanica aircraft were operated for over 220 hours. 52% of the company’s passengers flew to Vilnius whilst 42% - from the capital of Lithuania. The company has already become famous for strictly sticking to the flight schedule: 95% of its outgoing and 93% of its incoming flights to the Vilnius International were on time. Currently the average occupancy of the airline’s flights is 65%. Based on the reservation flows, it should reach 70% as early as this autumn.
Air Lituanica will operate flights to Berlin every other day - on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The airline will be carrying its passengers on its Embraer 170 aircraft. The flights will take off from Vilnius at 13:55 pm and the entire journey will last for 1 hour and 35 minutes. The aircraft will take off from the Tegel airport on a return flight to Vilnius at 15:10 local time.
Air Lituanica currently offers its customers direct daily flights to Amsterdam and Brussels* (*with the exception of Saturdays). This autumn the company is also planning to introduce new routes to Munich and Prague.
