Training Center of Norilsk Nickel Launched Unique Simulator
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2013. The training center of Norilsk Nickel corporate university launched a unique ST-14 simulator for load transporters operators.
More than USD 1 million worth simulator is a product of Swedish Atlas Copco which is one the major equipment suppliers for Norilsk Nickel mines. ST-14 is based on the virtual reality immersion technology thus permitting to manage the subtleties of load transporter safe exploration. E.g., the simulator facilitates the comprehension of translocation rules in mine excavations and emergency traffic.
The simulator cabin is a replica of that of the Atlas Copco machine. It is fitted with corresponding measuring equipment and controls. Among other things, the device has a rotating platform that simulates the real machine movements, screens with 360 degrees view imitation and audio track equipment simulating all regimes sounds of a load transporter. Besides, operators get the experience of load transporter remote control operation used at extremely dangerous mine sections.
LD operator is one of the most called-for Polar division skills. Since 2007 up to June 2013, 1012 employees mastered the LD operator profession. By the end of 2013, the Non-State Educational Establishment Norilsk Nickel corporate university plans to have 136 graduates.
The new and modern ST-14 training complex shall elevate the quality of close-to-life studies offered to the miners.
