OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2013. Russian maritime register certified fortified ice class diesel-electric ship Zapoliarni. The vessel under the banner of Norilsk Nickel corresponds to the requirments of Maritime labour convention.

Presently, all the other ships of the Company will be registered as well.

International Labour organization convention adopted in February 2013 stipulates basic principles and rights of all seamen on adequate labour.

The convention makes part of the Bill of rights of seamen and forth pillar of maritime legislation alongside with the basic conventions of IMO, i.e. safety of life at sea international convention (SOLAS), Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping convention (STWC) and International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution From Ships (MARPOL).
