Belarus' Grodno Azot Reports 17.2% Rise in Commodity Output
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' chemical company OAO Grodno Azot manufactured Br5.781 trillion worth of chemical products (USD 648 million) in January-July 2013, up 17.2% on the year, the company said in an official report posted on the company's web site.
In July 2013 commodity output grew 4.6% on the year to Br782.353 billion (USD 87.7 million).
OAO Grodno Azot decreased fertilizer production 5.9% on the year in January-July 2013 to 428,419 tonnes (in terms of 100% nitrogen). In July alone nitrogen fertilizer output decreased 32% to 55,553 tonnes.
Grodno Azot increased output of ammonium sulphate by 5.4% in January-July 2013 up to 245,950 tonnes; nitrosol -457,561 tonnes (down 1.7%); ammonia - 579,822 tonnes (down 6.4%), sulphuric acid - 166,862 tonnes (up 4%); caprolactam - 80,287 tonnes (up 2.6%); chemical fibres - 22,978 tonnes (down 12.1%).
Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake.
Grodno Azot is Belarus' main producer of liquid ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel.
