OREANDA-NEWS. Fujitsu, a leading provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, today announced that Fujitsu Network Communications’ FLASHWAVE® 9500 Packet Optical Networking Platform and FLASHWAVE® CDS Micro Packet Optical Networking Platform have achieved Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).

Fujitsu’s FLASHWAVE® 9500 is now MEF CE 2.0 certified for E-Line, E-Access, and E-LAN services. This uniquely capable Packet Optical Networking platform (Packet ONP) integrates Carrier Ethernet, ROADM, and SONET/SDH technologies. With the addition of the MEF certification, the FLASHWAVE 9500 forms a unified CE 2.0 Ethernet service delivery platform that can deliver any of the MEF services over any type of access network.

Additionally, the FLASHWAVE® CDS Micro Packet Optical Networking Platform is also now CE 2.0 certified for E-Line and E-Access services. The FLASHWAVE CDS system is the ideal access and aggregation solution for mobile backhaul and commercial/enterprise Ethernet services. The high-density Ethernet interface cards enable a scalable solution with integrated traffic management and carrier-grade Service OAM capabilities to provide robust, carrier-grade data services with guaranteed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

“Achieving MEF CE 2.0 certification on our FLASHWAVE platforms is an important milestone for Fujitsu. With this certification, we are assuring customers that our solutions enable standardized, interoperable services with which Service Providers can offer world class carrier grade Ethernet connectivity while creating new revenue generating opportunities,” said Rod Naphan, Senior Vice President, Planning, Fujitsu Network Communications. “The breadth of technologies integrated into the FLASHWAVE platforms, in combination with CE 2.0 certification, allows our customers to quickly drive revenue from MEF E-Line, E-LAN, and E-Access services by leveraging the products’ unique capability to deliver these services natively or encapsulated within SONET, SDH, or PDH protocols. With the FLASHWAVE 9500, service providers can deliver both wholesale and retail MEF CE 2.0 certified services on a unified infrastructure over a variety of transport technologies.”
