Eni's CEO Meets President of Republic of Congo
OREANDA-NEWS. The President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, and Eni's CEO, Paolo Scaroni, met in Djambala, in the Central region of Plateau, to discuss Eni's ongoing activities and projects in the country.
During the meeting, Paolo Scaroni, along with Claudio Descalzi, COO of Eni E&P, commented with the President of the Republic the recent Nene Marine discovery and discussed the role that gas will play in the economic and industrial development of the country. In particular, Eni's CEO illustrated the expansion plans of the Centrale Electrique du Congo power station for the economic and social development of the country.
The meeting was also the occasion to communicate the award of a block of over 16,000 sq. kilometres, located in the Cuvette Basin, to the joint venture made of the national company SNPC and Eni (operator), which development will enhance the recovery of the extractive industry in the Country.
The meeting marks the end of a visit of Eni's senior management to Africa, which has included meetings also with other state authorities like Mozambique, Angola and Ghana.
Eni has been present in Congo since 1968 and today has an equity production of 110,000 barrels of oil per day in the country. Eni has been present in Sub-Saharan Africa since the 1960s and currently participates in exploration and production projects in Angola, Congo, Ghana, Gabon, Mozambique, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Togo, Kenya and Liberia.
