CDA Wraps Summer Intern Program
OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2013. The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) wrapped up a six-week intern program at O'Hare and Midway International Airports with a thank-you luncheon at the CDA Aviation Administration Building near O'Hare International Airport.
The CDA worked with One Summer Chicago (OSC) to connect young people to summer jobs, internships and training in Chicago. The young adults have the opportunity to learn job skills, develop their resumes and explore career interests.
"On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, we are very pleased to be part of this outstanding program that may produce some of future aviators and aviation leaders," said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. "These interns have had the chance to interact with and assist travelers from all over the world through Chicago's airports."

Twenty-four of the interns from Chicago Service Works were assigned to Chicago O'Hare International Airport and seven from St. Sabina Church worked at Chicago Midway International Airport. These Ambassadors worked 12 hours per week at both airports and received extensive Customer Service training to provide information, directions and general assistance to passengers.
In addition, the interns had opportunities to meet,and shadow senior CDA staff in various areas of the department/airport. They will get the day off today to visit National Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. The students will get to fly a simulator, tour the airplane hangars, check out a Boeing 737 and spend a time in a classroom setting.
Mayor Emanuel and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle collaborated to establish One Summer Chicago (OSC) to connect young people to summer jobs, internships and training programs being offered throughout the City.
