PM: Work on Association Agreement to Be Most Ambitious in History
OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2013. Work on the implementation of the Association Agreement will be the most ambitious in the history of Ukraine. This was started by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The Prime Minister said that currently draft agreement agreed by the EU and Ukraine published on the Government Portal (web-portal of the Ukrainian Government) for the analysis by the public.
“We want that not only to the authorities but also our industrialists, business, experts, research institutions and NGOs, that is, the whole of society should have the opportunity to participate in the implementation of this Agreement when it will be inked, PM said. - And the work will be difficult and the most ambitious in the history of Ukraine. The President of Ukraine sequentially orients us on this.
Particularly in terms of establishing a free trade area with the European Union and the transfer of the Ukrainian economy, so to speak, on the European track. European standards are a higher competitiveness of the Ukrainian economy. And this should be achieved.”
According to the agreements with the EU, Ukraine has to bring in order its legislation to more than 200 directives and 150 regulations of the EU. Ukraine should also join a number of international conventions and incorporate in its legislation Recommendation of the European Parliament and the European Council. Some of the work has been already done. A draft program of implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU has been prepared, which will be considered on a meeting of the Government.
State of preparation of all the mentioned and other documents we will consider next week at a meeting of the High Level Group under the chairmanship of the PM.
“We must not to think that something can be put off. In fact, the competitive transformation is a daily work and daily changes that we have to make in Ukraine in the interests of our citizens,” Mykola Azarov said.
