Belaruskali Deals with Qatari Trader to Sell 3 mln tns of Potash
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian state-owned potash producer Belaruskali has signed a framework agreement with Qatar’s Muntajat, its new trader, to sell 3 million tonnes of potash fertilizers per year, Belaruskali said in a statement.
“The execution of this agreement is part of Belaruskali’s new sales strategy which followed a decision of Russian fertilizer company Uralkali to change conditions of business cooperation,” as follows from the statement.
In late July, Uralkali decided to stop exporting fertilizers via Belarus Potash Company, its joint trader with Belaruskali, and raise production. Experts said that the move may lead to a price war for the key crop nutrient, and expects potash prices to fall to below U.S. USD 300 per tonne from USD 400 in the coming months.
In 2012, Belaruskali produced 10.3 million of potassium chloride, and exported 3.7 million tonnes.
