Sakhalin Energy Wins International Festival of Indigenous Peoples
OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2013. Sakhalin Energy won the Third Far Eastern International Live Thread Festival of Indigenous Peoples Artistic Handicraft held in Khabarovsk.
The Festival hosted the creative teams, craftsmen of applied and decorative arts, representatives of communities, public organisations of indigenous peoples, municipal establishments of culture and education, industrial companies of the Khabarovsk Territory, the Republic of Buryatia and Sakha (Yakutia), the Chukotka Autonomous District, Kamchatka and Primorsk Territory, Kemerovo, Magadan and Sakhalin Oblast, Saint Petersburg, Japan and China.
The delegation of the Sakhalin Oblast consisted of the representatives of the Sakhalin Oblast Government, Kykh-kykh Okha public organisation, Pila ken Nivkh national ensemble, Centre for protection and development of indigenous peoples linguistic heritage, Exxon Neftegaz Limited and Sakhalin Energy.
The jury of the Festival highly appraised the activities of Sakhalin Energy on supporting of the Sakhalin indigenous peoples development and gave the company the first award for the Best Enterprise Supporting the Preservation and Development of Applied, Decorative, and Vernacular Arts of the Indigenous Ethnic Groups.
The book Vocabulary of Uilta as a Historical and Ethnographic Source by L.I. Missonova received the first place diploma as the Best Edition Devoted to Indigenous Peoples Vernacular Arts. The book was published this year with the support of Sakhalin Energy as part of implementation of the Sakhalin Indigenous Minorities Development Plan . The Development Plan is a partnership project of Sakhalin Energy, Sakhalin Oblast Government, Sakhalin Indigenous Minorities Council which has been implemented since 2006.
