OREANDA-NEWS. Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, accomplished manufacturing and shipment of 22 moving blocks for step electromagnetic drive to Balakovo NPP.

These drives are aimed for moving control elements of control and protection system of nuclear reactor. Drives jointly with control elements are operational unit of control and protection system of reactor, which are aimed at reactor launching, controlling and shutdown through introducing and elimination of controlling elements. Moving block is one of the core elements of step electromagnetic drive guaranteeing its propulsion.

Izhorskiye Zavody haы broad experience in manufacturing drives of different types for NPP units as well as for transport electric power units. But over the past 10 years such equipment has not been manufactured by the enterprise. In 2012 after qualification testing of manufacturing equipment, technology and facilities Izhorskiye Zavody came back to manufacturing spare parts of step electromagnetic drives. The successful come-back to the market was possible due to unique drive test facility used by Izhorskiye Zavody and imitating conditions of real equipment operation on NPP.

At present the enterprise got order from Balakovo NPP for manufacturing 40 more moving blocks and from Rostov NPP for 21 moving blocks to be delivered in 2014.
