T-Systems Builds Europe-Wide Network for ALDI Nord
OREANDA-NEWS. T-Systems is connecting all of ALDI Nord stores across Europe. Orders for goods, electronic payment transactions and connection of external service providers, such as the reverse vending machine operator, will run in future on this specially secured network (Virtual Private Network).
The network of around 5,000 stores will additionally be divided into logical sub-networks (Virtual Local Area Networks). This will ensure that, although the different data streams run on the same transmission line, they will nevertheless be kept strictly separate from one another. In the event of a line failure - if, for instance, a cable is severed due to excavation work - a mobile connection via UMTS is available as a backup in all countries.
"Conclusion of the contract is a huge success for our newly created retail organization," stresses Hagen Rickmann, head of Sales at T-Systems. "This realignment demonstrates our expertise in the industry, since it was our experience with well-known retail chains that won us the contract."
