Acme Corporation SIA Comments to LETA News Article
OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2013. LETA reported that Rimi applied pressure to Acme Corporation to reduce rent to EUR 1/m2 in one retail location located on Slokas iela. In fact, as reported in Acme Corporation’s 6 month financial statements published on NASDAQ OMX on 31 July, 2013, Acme Corporation initiated the request for a lease extension at the reduced rate, which after several conversations, Rimi agreed to.
The implication in LETA’s article that Rimi applied pressure to Acme Corporation is erroneous. Rimi fulfilled their contractual obligation to Acme Corporation, and it would have been within Rimi’s legal right to not extend the lease. The fact that Rimi agreed to a lease extension on Slokas iela is testament to the long and productive relationship enjoyed between Acme Corporation subsidiary Apex Investments and Rimi.
Management of Acme Corporation understands that in a dynamic market occasionally assets need to be repositioned, redeveloped, or indeed even closed. Acme Corporation will work together with Rimi to improve operations at Slokas iela, and fully intends to continue its long term and productive relationship with Rimi in all of its nine locations throughout Latvia.
