OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2013. Regarding the oil spill incident caused by PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (PTTGC) on Saturday 27th July 2013, the Emergency and Crisis Management Centre of PTT Group has confirmed that the cleanup operation plan is now 95% complete.

PTT officers as well as public officers and volunteers have worked together in implementing internationally accepted methods of cleanup. Bags containing contaminated sand and seawater are being brought away from the Ao Prao Bay area to the disposal point with the help of the Royal Thai Navy. It is expected that the transfer of the bags will be completed by tomorrow.

Apart from the cleanup in Ao Prao Bay, PTT is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further damaging consequences. The company has consulted with stakeholders and independent academics in order to reach a sustainable recovery plan, which is to be implemented according to the agreement from the government and the public. Anyone affected by this incident can file their complaints to the Rayong Local Council at the Oil Spill Relief Coordination Centre for Affected Persons tel. 038-694-017-9.
