OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2013. Valentina Badrajan, Executive Director of Millennium Challenge Moldova, informs that a deadline to apply for this tender is September, 30. There will be chosen only one company to rehabilitate all 3 systems.

The technical requirements for companies are rather high, for instance, company must have 7 years of experience and minimum 2 similar projects carried out. “We want to be 100% sure that a picked company would be a responsible one, we want it making all works in time and following financial agreements that we are going to sign.” – Valentina Badrajan says. There will be local and international experts participating in the tender.

As to rehabilitation itself, it is planned to replace all pumps, pipes, and hydrants and equip stations with modern technologies in order to decreased services expenses. When the works are up, the total irrigated area to be 2.6 thousand hectares. It will be also possible enlarging this area by means of special systems. Valentina Badrajan says that irrigation systems in Blindesti and Grozesti were built in 70s and in Leova in early 90s.

At the moment, there is only one working irrigation system – the one in Grozesti. It irrigates about 100 hectares of land. As it was previously reported, there was another tender for irrigation systems in Jora de Jos, raionul Orhei, village Cosnita, raionul Dubasari, and villages Puhaceni and Roscani, raionul Anenii Noi. It was up on July, 29. There were construction companies from Romania, Portugal, Israel, Russian, and France applying for the tender.

The amount of tender’s bids varies from USD10.5 million to USD 21.7 million. The government of Moldova and corporation Millennium Challenge signed the agreement on rehabilitation of irrigation systems in 2010. The budget of this project equals to USD 262 million.

Its main objective is to rehabilitate not less than 11 irrigation systems (15 thousand hectares) in Moldova.
