OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2013. Harvesting early crops have been finished in southern Ukraine. Overall domestic agrarian producers threshed 90% of planted winter areas. It was gathered 28 million tons of grain. This was announced today by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk during a press briefing at the Cabinet building.

"Southern regions of Ukraine fully finished harvesting early crops. In general, agrarian producers harvested 28 million tons of grain, 90% of planted arrears with winter wheat is threshed. I note that this year we could to provide a much higher rates of harvesting campaign compared to previous years. And gathering of corps will be completed as soon as possible," the Minister said.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk added that agrarians had already harvested 90% of early wheat, 87% barley and 80% rye. As for grain yield, today it is 29.8 centner/ha, which is 5 centner/ha more than in the previous year. Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said that it will affect the cost of grain formation.

"This year, Ukraine plans to gather more than 57 million tons of grain. The largest part is for corn, more than 28 million tons. Today it is the most export-oriented culture," the Minister said.
