OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2013. In July 2013 UN published United Nations Global Compact International Yearbook 2013. Two Sakhalin Energy practices have been included into this edition – Sakhalin Road Safety Council and Biodiversity Action Plan (among other 43 practices of UN GC participants).

This annual publication’s primary goal is to outline the best practices of United Nations Global Compact (UN GC) participants as well as to introduce global overview of UN GC achievements and up-to-date trends in the area of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.

H.E. Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General highlighted in his Yearbook’s opening statement that “A growing number of businesses in all regions recognize the importance of reflecting environmental, social and economic considerations in their operations and strategies”.

Today, United Nations Global Compact is the largest world initiative embracing more than 7,000 companies committed to reach and advance the Ten UN GC universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Sakhalin Energy joined this initiative in 2009 and was repeatedly acknowledged for implementation and progress of UN GC principles within Russia and internationally.
