OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2013. The new Iberia A330 aircraft made its first flight from Madrid to Chicago. The flight was greeted with a water cannon salute by the Chicago Fire Department at O'Hare International Airport at 2:10 p.m. The aircraft returned to Madrid the same day at 4:40 p.m.

With a configuration of 36 seats in the Business cabin and 242 in the Economy class, the Business Plus section in the new A330s features wider seats that unfold into perfectly flat beds almost 80 inches long, housed in individual modules, each of them with direct access to the aisle.

The Airbus A330s is a twin-engine aircraft and is 15 percent more fuel efficient than the aircraft it replaces.

"On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, we congratulate Iberia on the newest member of its fleet", said Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino of the Chicago Department of Aviation. "Passengers flying between Chicago and Madrid will appreciate greater space and more amenities on the Airbus 330 during their flights."

The new Business class seat includes new entertainment options, with access to feature films, TV series, documentaries, musical options, and 3D games, among many other choices.
