Tata Power Organises Free Medical Camp for Treating Anaemia
OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, has always been at the forefront to address community needs. Continuing with this philosophy, Maithon Power (MPL), a joint venture company of Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation, organised yet another initiative for the well-being of the local community by taking the necessary steps to provide them with quality health care.
As an integral part of its health care drive, MPL conducted a tailor-made health check-up camp on anaemia. Blood tests were carried out and medication supply for a month was distributed amongst the villagers during this camp. Qualified doctors imparted their knowledge on the symptoms of, precautions against and prevention of anemia. The villagers were also educated on the nutritional value of food specific for fighting the disease. The initiative received tremendous response from the villages with nearly 80 women and girls availing the benefit of the camp.
Commenting on the initiative, Bhaskar Sarkar CEO, MPL, stated, “Women and children are essential pillars of our society and are the most vulnerable to illnesses caused due to malnutrition. We understand that to build a better tomorrow, we have to create a healthier today. Our attempts are wholeheartedly directed towards achieving the same and combating malnutrition and inadequate care. The mobile medical units and health camps are amongst the few of many such endeavours.”
Speaking on the success of the health camp, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, station head, added, “It’s our endeavour to improve the quality of life of our communities through such health camps and drives. The objective of this programme is to provide better health care facilities to the community around our business operations. MPL has always tried to address community needs, treating people as one of its most important stakeholders.”
MPL has also activated the initiative of organising free medical camps at regular intervals. The mobile medical units operate six days a week and cover the surrounding 30 villages. The camps will be organised over and above these efforts. The team is committed to creating health awareness in the nearby villages and provides medical assistance to them through free diagnosis and treatment of different illnesses.
