T-Systems to Connect European and National Administrations
OREANDA-NEWS. T-Systems has been awarded by the European Commission a three -year framework contract with four possible extensions of one year each and a maximal volume of up to 180 million euro. Under the agreement, Deutsche Telekom’s IT subsidiary T-Systems will run the communication infrastructure for the exchange of electronic data between the European and National Administrations. The so-called “Trans-European Services for Telematics between Administrations - New Generation” (TESTA-ng) networks are to meet the growing demand for cross-border cooperation and collaboration between national and European Public Administration in the Union.
“The European Institutions rely on high-quality, secure communication networks for their daily business”, states Reinhard Clemens, Member of Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Management and T-Systems’ CEO. “The contract win acknowledges T-Systems as a European service provider with a track record for securely connecting corporations around the world.”
With this contract, the Member States, the European Commission, the Council, and some 40 European agencies are sourcing a highly resilient, secured and encrypted European wide area network with speeds up to one gigabit per second. To ensure the required high level of data confidentiality and security, T-Systems will set up dedicated Operation Centres within the EU borders. Central Domain Services shared across the different networks under the contract are as well part of the scope and will also be delivered out of highly secured and resilient data centres.
