OREANDA-NEWS. Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, visited KAMAZ during his working trip to Naberezhnye Chelny.

The head of the republic accompanied by Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, saw new laser centers for metal working at the press and stamping plant. Their installation which had cost 174 million roubles enabled to save more than 320 million for a year and a half, and raise a coefficient of metal utilization from 55 to 75%.

Rustam Minnikhanov was shown a new four-axle truck with GVW of up to 80 tonnes, and a hybrid power unit consisting of a usual internal-combustion engine driving rear wheels and electronic engines installed on front wheels on a new independent suspension in the Research and Development Centre of KAMAZ. This installation saves up to 25% of fuel and enhances total maximum power by 20% in comparison with a “clean” combustion engine.

Later Rustam Minnikhanov drove two new vehicles of the military Typhoon line and highly assessed road performance of KAMAZ armoured vehicles.

In conclusion, Sergey Kogogin, General Director of OJSC KAMAZ, presented Tatarstan’s President a new project of the automobile engineering center with a proving ground and testing tracks.
