Number of Alternative Check-in Services Users Is Growing in Domodedovo
OREANDA-NEWS. According to the first half of 2013 the number of passengers who have used alternative check-in services is significantly growing in Moscow Domodedovo Airport. Over 38% passengers, departured from Domodedovo in January-June 2013, used CUSS kiosks, internet sites of airlines and mobile applications. For comparison in the first half of 2012 this figure was 26% and at year-end it increased up to 30%.
Every day in average 15 thousand people use alternative check-in services. During the first 6 months of 2013 the number of such air travelers has already increased up to over 2,6 million passengers.
On-line check in is the most popular service among air travelers. In the first half of 2013 over 1,5 million people used this service - this is twice as more as in the last year period. According to the results of 6 months, 22% of all departing passengers checked in online on websites of airlines.
In the first half of 2013 check in via mobile apps had the most dynamic growth - its users number increased in two and half times comparing to the last year, totaling 210 thousand people. The service is quickly developing but it is still to conquer its mass consumer.
Growing popularity of alternative check in services points to obvious convenience of such decisions for air travelers. Modern technologies save time and offer additional opportunities -tourists choose seats on board and in passenger terminal they proceed straight to departure area (if they travel with hand-luggage only).
In Domodedovo self checked-in passengers with baggage can use special Drop-off counters, where airport workers help tourists to drop off luggage. Till the end of the year Domodedovo will put into service automatic drop-off counters, where after reading passengers’ passport data, baggage tag will be automatically printed.
Mobile applications users, receiving e-boarding pass on their mobile devices, print duplicate of boarding pass via Reprint terminals - they are situated nearly every departure area exit.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport - is the largest one of Russia, in 2012 the airport served 28,2 million people. It joins the category of the largest airports in Europe on the classification of the Airports Council International (ACI) and on results of 2012 became one of three European airports with the highest dynamic development. Since 2009 it is ranked as the best airport in Eastern Europe by Skytrax. Domodedovo is chosen for flights by member airlines of two largest global airline alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld.
