OREANDA-NEWS. Crimea Titan PJSC which belongs to Group DF resumed the production of monoammonium phosphate. The work of “Ammophos” production unit was resumed after a six-month downtime. “The workshop operates at full capacity, that is 9 000 tonnes of monoammonium phosphate per month”, said Sergey Kosenko, Chairman of the Crimea Titan PJSC Board.

Production of monoammonium phosphate was stopped in December 2012 due to the seasonal decline in demand for this type of fertilizers and increased production costs. As explained by Sergey Kosenko, high cost of imported Syrian phosphate rock did not allow Crimea Titan’s products to compete effectively with Russian producers, who have access to cheaper Russian raw materials.

“Therefore, to reduce production costs we switched to the supply of phosphate rock from Algeria”, said Sergey Kosenko. “We signed several contracts for the supply of raw materials with new suppliers. This new raw material requires a more complex processing, and we had to adjust all operating regimes at all production stages. We did it without much difficulty”.

During downtime of “Ammophos” production unit part of its staff was transferred to other workshops and departments of the factory. Suspension of production was used to perform maintenance of the workshop equipment almost in all workshop areas. Also scheduled maintenance of electrical equipment was carried out.

According to Group DF Ukrainian market consumed 215 000 tons of monoammonium phosphate in 2012. Analysts of Group DF predict that Ukrainian market will grow twofold by 2020 and will consume up to 420 000 tons of monoammonium phosphate. Global MAP market volume in 2012 was about 24 million tons.
