OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2013. "According to the data of the State Statistics Committee, the scope of works in the engineering construction has decreased by 24.5% and by 18.9% in non-residential construction in the first half of 2013 year. However, the works in housing construction have increased by 6.6%.

 The growth of housing construction shows that the simplification of licensing procedures and deregulation gives positive results. More than 4.5 million square meters of housing have been commissioned for 6 months of 2013. This is more than 19.4 thousand buildings, which is by 26% more than last year," vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Vilkul said at off-side meeting of the board of the Ministry of Regional Development, Constructiong, Housing and Communal Services in Donetsk.

Leader in terms of commissioned housing is the city of Kyiv (434 thousand sq. m.), Crimea (420 thousand sq. m), Kyiv region (371 thousand sq. m), Dnipropetrovsk region (365 thousand sq. m.) and Donetsk region (296 thousand sq. m.).

Also, in accordance with projections in the first half of 2013 by 7% (compared to the same period of last year) the amount of capital investments in the construction industry will be increase, which will make up approximately UAH 120 billion (for 6 months of 2012 the figure was UAH 112.2 billion).

"By the end of the year we should enter with this figure to UAH 280 billion. That is to increase by at least 6% annual amount of capital investment in the sector compared with the last year," Olexandr Vilkul said.
