In Pavlodar, the third final stage of the “Best in Profession” contest on the basis of Pavlodar oil pipeline department and Operation maintenance base of Eastern branch of “KazTransOil” JSC has started. Highly qualified specialists of structural divisions of the company have once again gathered to demonstrate their secrets of perfect mastery. The contests of professional skills have become one of core elements of personnel policy of the oil transportation enterprise, aimed not only to improve a status of a worker’s profession, but also qualification level of specialists.

“KazTransOil” JSC makes major efforts in terms of enhancement of professionalism of its employees. And that is logical. After all, the largest oil pipeline company in Kazakhstan transports for today almost 60% of crude oil, produced in Kazakhstan, for the domestic market and for export, provides a high level of industrial and environmental safety, occupational safety. Working in the company requires for not only an appropriate level of professional knowledge, but also continuously improvement of their skills. And it is one of the main objectives of the annual contest “Best in Profession”.

The history of the competition counts for 14 years, and holding it has become a tradition for “KazTransOil” JSC. Each competition differs from the previous one: theoretical and practical tasks improve from year to year, the venue also changes. Only the method of holding and selection of the finalists remains unchanged: on the first stage of the competition the workers of oil pipeline controls compete among each other, the second stage takes place inside the branches, and the third round to determine the best ones in the company on a whole. In 2003, the competition of pipe layers “Best in Profession” was released on an international level, and once every few years, experts from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus meet with Kazakhstani experts in the fight for the title of the best.

Representatives of 8 specializations take part in the competition for the title of the best in profession: commodity operators, operators of oil pumping stations, linear pipe layers, electric and gas welders, chemical analyses lab assistants, mechanic on repairing and maintenance of technological equipment, mechanic of metering devices and automatics, electricians. Specialists will be competing in knowledge of theory, answering the testing questions, and practice, for purposes of which special equipped sites were prepared for the contesters.

It is important that during the competitions there is a lively exchange of experience between the participants, joint search of sometimes nonstandard solutions of industrial problems. Moreover, participation in the competition gives the opportunity to the employees, living in various regions of Kazakhstan, to meet and exchange experience, thus excellently promoting enhancement of corporate spirit and improvement of the work at the enterprise.

The evaluation of work of contest participants shall be carried out according to several criteria, which include employee’s professionalism, level of his theoretical preparedness, practical skills, observance of rules of labor and safety measures and a range of other indicators.
