Mitsui to Develop Peru's Human Resources
OREANDA-NEWS. Ceremony held to commemorate launch of Mitsui scholarship program for Peru national vocational training school.
The scholarship came about after Peru's President Humala asked President Iijima of Mitsui to help develop the country's human resources as a foundation of economic development. After considering the request, Mitsui resolved to establish a new mining and construction machinery maintenance course at SENATI (a Peru national vocational training school).
Mitsui will also provide scholarships equivalent to 100 million yen over five years for a total of 105 students participating in this new course and the automotive mechanics course at SENATI.
In addition to providing scholarship funding, the program will involve various aspects of the Mitsui Group, including sourcing expert lecturers from Mitsui affiliates Komatsu Mitsui Maquinarias Peru and Mitsui Automotoriz Peru, lending machinery, and offering various internship opportunities.
The ceremony attracted more than 200 guests, including Peruvian Minister Laos of Labor and Promotion of Employment, Japanese Ambassador Fukukawa in Peru, many key political figures from both Japan and Peru, management personnel from private corporations, and the media. Mitsui was represented at the ceremony by Senior Executive Managing Officer Kinoshita and Chief Operating Officer Kawai of Mitsui Americas Business Unit.
