The first Iftar meals that took place in Sanliurfa, as part of the "We are breaking our fast in Anatolia" project of Calik Holding, received a lot of attention from the community of the region. The Iftar tables that are set out in the courtyard of The Sanliurfa Prophet Eyyub Mosque, with the support of The Yesilay (Green Crescent) Organization and the Governor of Sanliurfa, are going to be a host to approximately 30 thousand people, throughout the Holy Month of Fasting, Ramadan.

The Iftar meals that have become a tradition of Calik Holding, as part of it's "We are breaking our fast in Anatolia" campaign, are taking place in Sanliurfa this year, with the collaboration of The Yesilay (Green Crescent) Organization and the Governor of Sanliurfa. The meals that are being served in the courtyard of the historical Prophet Eyyub Mosque hosted a thousand people on the first night of this Holy Month.

In the previous Ramadan, Calik Holding chose to serve it's annual Iftar meals at Ercis, a location that had received serious damage following the Van earthquake. Sanliurfa, also known as the "City of the Prophets", came to be the choice of this year, as an initiative to take part in the peace making period. Hence, the Iftar meals throughout Ramadan, will be served in this, from a cultural as well as religious sense, historically significant region, within the courtyard of the Prophet Eyyub Mosque. Following the Iftar meal, which is expected serve an estimate of one thousand people per day, the guests are then going to have the opportunity to take part in various activities and conversations organized on account of this Holy Month.

Calik Holding's CEO, Dr. Berat Albayrak, who shared that the traditional Iftar mals have been taking place in Anatolia over the past 2 years, cpntinued on to share that: "This year, we will be in Sanliurfa for our annual Iftar meals: a city that bears with it a spirit very close to that of the Month of Ramdan. Gathering together and strengthening our solidarity and brotherhood, are all important values of the Month of Ramadan. I therefore hope that we carry on the beauties, sharings, and goodness of this month throughout this year. As the peace making period continues in our nation, the sad developments in our neighboring countries, specifically in Egypt and Syria, seems to set a shadow upon our happiness. As we break our fasts with our sisters and brothers of this "City of Prophets", Sanliurfa, on occasion of Ramadan this year, we will pray together for all those who are under oppression to reach contentment".

The Iftar meals in Sanliurfa are taking place in collaboration with The Yesilay (Green Crescent) Organization of Turkey. The Chairman of this organization, Prof. Dr. M. Ihsan Karaman, shared that the Holy Month of Ramadan is an important opportunity to flee from bad habits and continued by adding that "The Month of Ramadan has a very positive place and role in our society, from the perspective of one fleeing from his/her addictions. Ramadan and fasting, in essence, are means of discipline that teach one to not be addicted, and to pass challenges through ones own wil. Fasting is indeed a teacher!".

Throughout the month of Ramadan, approximately 30.000 people will be guests at the Iftar tables of Calik Holding, that are set with the support of the Governance of Sanliurfa. The Iftar meals will begin with prayers, as is what is in harmony with this holy month. In addition, the Yesilay (Green Crescent) Organization will be running awareness campaigns on the harmful side effects of tabacco on health.

Calik Holding, has also not forgotten of the Syrian refugee families, in scope of it's Sanliurfa Ramadan activities. In regards to this, with the "Bread Ration Card" campaign that was started with the Gunyuzu Fellowhip, 5 breads will be given to the refugees each day, throughout the month of Ramadan.

All materials necessary for the Iftar meals throughout the month of Ramadan, a month that blossoms with helping hands, cooperation, and sharing, will be obtained from local businesses, in an attempt to support the region's economy.
