OREANDA-NEWS.  July 24, 2013. The 5th meeting of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation took place in Chisinau. Ukrainian delegation was headed by First Deputy Chairman of the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization of Ukraine Borys Grinyov, the Moldovan side was chaired by the president of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova Academician Georghiy Duca. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Moldova Serhiy Pyrozhkov.

The parties discussed the features of reforming of scientific and technical areas of Moldova and its positive experience during the event. Borys Grinyov presented the latest developments in this field in accordance with the administrative reform in Ukraine.

Members of the delegations exchanged information on the projects presented at the joint call between the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization of Ukraine and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, their compliance with the requirements of the competition and subject to expert evaluation of both countries and the priorities of bilateral cooperation 6 research projects were approved for funding in 2014-2015.

During the discussion, the Moldovan side has initiated consideration of holding a joint meeting on the problems of the Dniester River basin.

As from January 2012, Moldova is an associate member of the European framework programs; the sides noted the need for cooperation and the establishment of new initiatives to joint participation in international projects, namely the Horizon 2020.

At the end of the meeting a cooperation program in science and technology between the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization and the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Moldova was signed.
