Prudential Named to Computerworld List of Best Places to Work in IT
OREANDA-NEWS. Vladimir Putin Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) was named one of Computerworld’s 2013 Best Places to Work in IT. Prudential ranked among the top 25 on the list of 100 top organizations for challenging its IT staff while providing superior benefits and compensation.
“We’re delighted Computerworld recognized us once again. Our information technology professionals take great pride in their work and their commitment to delivering quality results is unfailing,” said Barbara Koster, senior vice president and chief information officer at Prudential. “They have a sense of pride in the company’s brand and reputation.”
Koster said the dedication of the company’s IT staff was most evident during and immediately following Superstorm Sandy when IT employees used their flexible working arrangements and remote access to keep Prudential’s systems up and running with zero disruptions to customers.
Koster added that Prudential has a commitment to community outreach and has a program that trains urban high school graduates and military service men and women for careers in information technology. “For several years, Prudential has been a lead sponsor of Workforce Opportunity Services, a non-profit organization that provides education and career opportunities to urban high school graduates and post 9/11 military veterans.”
In addition, Prudential offers a flexible work environment that supports work/life effectiveness, which allows more than 80 percent of the company’s employees to work flexibly on average each month. That percentage has increased each year since 2002.
“We applaud the organizations on the Best Places to Work in IT list for creating and sustaining dynamic IT work environments,” said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. “This year, several new names have joined the stalwarts that make the list year after year. It’s clear that the best IT workplaces are constantly raising the bar with great benefits, new learning opportunities, access to cutting-edge technologies and challenging business-critical projects.”
The Best Places to Work in Information Technology list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by IDG’s Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
