OREANDA-NEWS. July 19, 2013. The State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection of Ukraine focuses on effective protection against risks to which the consumer can not prevent themselves. This was stressed by Chairman of the State Inspectorate Serhiy Orekhov at the Government House during a briefing on "Government Measures to prevent penetration into the market of counterfeit and contraband products."

"The problem of counterfeit and contraband products is a topical subject. The amount of counterfeit and contraband products increases every year and economic damage from this huge to the state. Violators produce and supply this product to the market at low prices, while they do not pay taxes and licence payments. As a result, the state budget suffers, and we can`t hear of fair competition in the market," Serhiy Orekhov said.

At present, with the direct participation of the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection it was prevented imports of smuggled electrical products worth 110 thousand dollars. This is the first time in Ukraine, when State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection of Ukraine and the Ministry of income and fees due to the signed document on development a unified system of notification have worked timely, quickly and accurately to contraband does not enter into circulation in the domestic market of Ukraine.

"Only due to joint action and mutual understanding between the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection of Ukraine, local authorities, non-governmental consumer associations, media and business representatives, consumer protection can fully contribute to the welfare of citizens and create conditions for healthy competition in the market," the head of the State Inspectorate assured.

Serhiy Orekhov announced about detailed inspection activities aimed at checking of tobacco products trade.

Another topical issue that was highlighted by the head of the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection of Ukraine is sales in the restaurants drinks of its own production.
