OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2013. Fortune published its 2013 Global 500 list. where BOC was ranked the 70th  place, 23 place higher than its previous ranking in 2012. BOC now stands as the only Chinese corporation having been listed among the Fortune 500 for 25 consecutive years.

Those that are nominated in the Global 500 are based on the operating revenues of corporations as of March 31, 2013. Though the golobal economy is still managing  to recover from the economic crisis, the minimum threshold for the 2013 Global 500 was USD 23.2 billion, an increase of USD 1.2 billion from last year. The total revenues of the Global 500 corporations reached USD 3.03 trillion, up 2.77% caompared with last year. 95 corporations from China (including mainland China, HK, and Taiwan) joined the Global 500  list, making China a country with the largest number of corporations on the list only second to the USA.

Additionally, BOC ranks the 10th  place among the 50 most profitable corporations in the Global 500 list , with total profits up to USD 22 billion.

The Fortune magazine was founded in 1930. It launched the Fortune Global 500 list in 1954, and such a list has since became the most famous and the most authoritative ranking of corporations in the world.
