OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 July 2013 the departure ceremony of Russian Olympic youth team took place at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. 155 members of Russian delegation, including 107 young sportsmen, flew out on-route Moscow-Amsterdam. From the capital of Netherlands they will fly to Utrecht, where from 13 to 20 July 2013 XII summer European Youth Olympic Festival is being held.

Departure ceremony of the Olympians took place in Domodedovo Airport passenger terminal. Three-time Olympic champion in synchronous swimming Mariya Kiseleva arrived to see off a team. Russian Olympic Committee Vice President and five-time Olympic champion Anastasia Davydova and representatives of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation wished bright victories to sportsmen.

Russian Olympic Committee notices that Russian sportsmen frequently depart from Domodedovo for prestigious international competitions. Always meeting the airport authority support and understanding, Russian Olympic Committee highly appreciates achieved level of cooperation with Domodedovo Airport.

The European Olympic Youth Festival is held in Netherlands for the second time, first time it took place in this country in 1993 in Valkenswaard. This year 3300 people from 49 countries will participate in the event. The festival program includes 9 sports: basketball, bicycling, volleyball, handball, judo, track and field athletics, swimming, artistic gymnastics and tennis.

This year 63 girls and 44 boys out 35 regions of the country entered Russian national team. The team of Russia is an unconditional leader in medal count according to all previous festivals’ results. In 2011 on XI European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Trabzon (Turkey) the Russians broke the record: 54 medals, among which 21 - gold, 17 - silver and 16 - bronze.
