OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2013. During the 2012-2013 marketing year, domestic agrarian producers exported 23 million tonnes of grain. This is by one million tonnes more than last year. Ukraine has all chances to less than in 10 years to enter the top three countries, which export crops, such as coarse grain. This was started by the First vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov.

"Marketing year 2012-2013 ended successfully for the agricultural sector of Ukraine. Agricultural exported 23 million tonnes of grain, most of all corn and wheat. We have even more ambitious plans for future. According to estimates of international experts, by 2021 Ukraine will be able to produce 65 million tonnes of grain and supply to foreign markets about 31 million. This will allow it to enter the top three in terms of selling the grain abroad, particularly coarse grain," the First vice Prime Minister said.

Serhiy Arbuzov also noted that in parallel with the supply of large amounts of grain abroad, the Government could ensure food security in the country.

"In order to prevent shortages of grain in Ukraine, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food has signed a Memorandum with grain traders. Through these agreements, the Government and business jointly decide how much corn will be exported each year. Today it is one of the best examples of effective public-private partnership," Serhiy Arbuzov said.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, 14.7 million tons of grain supplied for the last 7 years on average abroad. So this year's grain exports are one of the biggest since independence. Thus in the 2013-2014 marketing year, Ukraine will export up to 26 million tonnes of grain.
