ZMS Starts Production of New Euro 4 Gasoline Engines
OREANDA-NEWS. Given the new requirements to the manufactured vehicles for compliance with environmental class 4 introduced in Russia from January 1, 2013, Zavolzhsky Engine Plant improved its Euro-3 engine and, from May 2013, started the production of ZMZ 40524.1000400-100 engines that meet new requirements.
The improvements in the base ZMZ-40524 engine include the implementation of the following design changes:
• modifying the design of valve covers to ensure their optimal sealing;
• improving the ventilation system and its components, which allowed to increase the efficiency of the throttle pipe, including at low temperatures.
The requirements for Euro 4 engine demand to reduce in half not only the emissions of harmful substances but also the noise level. Therefore, one of the key measures implemented in the new engine was the use of timing chain drive gear.
ZMZ 40524.1000400-100 engine has passed its tests as part of GAZ-2705 vehicle.
The certification tests of the engine and the analysis of its specifications showed that by its power, efficiency, environmental and acoustic characteristics, the engine fully complies with environmental class 4, UNECE Regulation 83-05B, GOST R 53838 - 2010 (section 3-4) and TU 4561-024-05745130-2007.
The certificates of conformity have been issued by the Federal State-Funded Institution “Nizhegorodsky TsSM” (Nizhny Novgorod Center of Metrology, Standardization and Testing), a body for certification of products and services, based on the Test Protocols No. 10-798-12 of December 7, 2012 and No. 10-808-12 of December 19, 2012 by Motor Testing Center of Zavolzhsky Engine Plant OJSC.
