OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2013. Governor of the Central Bank Mr. Elman Rustamov met the delegation headed by Mrs. Alisa Maric, the Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports, grossmeister and international chess master.

Achievements in chess, measures taken to develop chess and chess players in both Azerbaijan and Serbia were discussed during the meeting.

Mrs. Alisa Maric, the Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports highly appreciated the measures taken to boost chess in Azerbaijan and expressed her deep confidence that Azerbaijan will successfully host the 2015 World Cup and the 2016 World Chess Olympiad.

Mr. Elman Rustamov, Governor of the Central Bank and President of the Azerbaijani Chess Federation, in his turn, noted that development of chess is on a special focus and gave in-depth information on the measures taken. He particularly emphasized the 2009-2014 State Program on chess development in Azerbaijan approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a clear example of the high level support for chess in the country. Mr. E.Rustamov also exressed his strong confiedence in further strengthening of relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia in the sphere of chess based on the long-term cooperation.

Future cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Serbian Chess Federations was also discussed during the meeting.
