OREANDA-NEWS. July 12, 2013. Late June Atomenergoproekt (Moscow) carried out an express analysis of VVER-TOI project for the European Utility Requirements (EUR) organization.

The company specialists produced answers to 52 fundamental safety issues, which themes cover the entire scope of the nuclear power plant of VVER-TOI project (architect general is Atomenergoproekt). The work was ordered by Rosenergoatom (Russia’s representative in EUR) and done with involvement of specialists from OKB Gidropress and NRC Kurchatov Institute.

Outcomes of the express analysis allow the EUR experts to start reviewing an application for the VVER-TOI certificate of conformance with requirements for NPPs with light-water reactors of a new generation already this year. It is expected that in October an expert group will be formed to review the VVER-TOI project and its working schedule will be prepared.

The VVER-TOI certification application was submitted to EUR late 2012.
